How Does Power Steering Work?
As mentioned before, power steering uses the energy generated by hydraulic pressure (a liquid), electric power, or a combination of both to support turning the steering wheel. Hydraulic power steering systems are the most popular and use the energy provided by pumping hydraulic fluid, otherwise known as your power steering fluid, in a pressurized barrel to drive the gear assembly of the power steer. Since the hydraulic fluid is at the heart of its function, a low level of power steering fluid leakage can be detrimental to the entire steering system and your safety.
